These terms govern your use of Cambric, the desktop book formatting application ("the Software") developed and sold at cambric.pub ("we", "us", "our"). By purchasing or using Cambric, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English because we believe you shouldn't need a lawyer to understand what you're agreeing to.
License Grant
When you purchase Cambric, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on up to two computers that you personally own or control (for example, a desktop and a laptop). This license is yours for life — there is no expiration date and no recurring fees.
You may not redistribute, sublicense, resell, or share your copy of Cambric with others. Each license is for a single person. If multiple people in your household or team need Cambric, each person needs their own license.
Payment
Cambric is a one-time purchase of $199 USD. There are no subscriptions, no hidden fees, and no in-app purchases. The price includes all updates within the major version you purchase. We process payments through trusted third-party payment providers. We do not store your credit card information.
Refund Policy
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. If Cambric isn't right for you, contact us at hello@cambric.pub within 30 days of purchase and we'll issue a full refund. After 30 days, refunds are at our discretion but we'll always try to be fair.
What You Own
Your content is yours. Any files you create with Cambric — PDFs, EPUBs, or anything else — belong entirely to you. We claim no rights over your manuscripts, your output files, or any content you produce. You are free to sell, distribute, or do whatever you like with the files you create.
Cambric runs locally on your machine. Your files never leave your computer unless you choose to move them yourself. We have no cloud services, no telemetry on your content, and no way to access your work.
Templates and Intellectual Property
Cambric includes 20+ professionally designed interior templates. These templates are licensed for use only within the Software. You may use them to produce and sell books, but you may not extract, redistribute, or resell the template files themselves.
The Cambric name, logo, and application code are our intellectual property and are protected by copyright. The templates bundled with the Software are also our intellectual property, licensed to you as described above.
No Account Required
Cambric does not require you to create an account or sign in to use the Software. We believe your formatting tool should work for you, not the other way around. You may optionally provide an email address for license recovery or update notifications, but this is never mandatory.
Limitations of Liability
Cambric is provided "as is." While we work hard to make the Software reliable and accurate, we cannot guarantee that it will be entirely free of bugs or that it will meet every specific need. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Software.
In any case, our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid for your license. We strongly recommend keeping backups of your manuscript files outside of any single application.
Termination
Your license remains valid as long as you comply with these terms. If you violate these terms — for example, by redistributing the Software — we may revoke your license. If we do, we'll tell you why and give you a reasonable opportunity to remedy the situation before taking action, unless the violation is severe (such as piracy or reverse engineering for redistribution).
You can stop using Cambric at any time by simply uninstalling it. No exit procedure, no cancellation call, no hoops.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, via our blog or email if you've provided one). Continued use of the Software after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. We'd much rather talk things out than involve lawyers.
